Department of Infectious Diseases

The department specializes in diagnostic-consultative outpatient care and inpatient treatment of all infectious diseases and is the only one in the Ruse region. It provides diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and follow-up care for: infections of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory infections, viral hepatitis, skin and soft tissue infections, viral exanthematous infections, infections associated with lymph nodes, particularly dangerous infections, neuroinfections, transmissible infections, surface infections, herpes infections, and parasitic diseases.

Inpatient

The department is located in a separate building within the hospital grounds. It has 20 beds, distributed across four sectors: intensive care, hepatitis, intestinal, and airborne-droplet.

Apparatus

The department uses modern, advanced scanners for the diagnosis of infectious diseases: a 16-slice spiral GE BrightSpeed Elite and a 64-slice multi-detector CT scanner, a compact 16-channel magnetic resonance system “Signa HDxt 1.5T Scan Tools Bepcия 23.00” for magnetic resonance imaging from General Electric Medical Systems, an ultrasound for abdominal organs. The department employs four doctors, two of whom specialize in “Infectious Diseases.” An infectious diseases consultation room is available, where patients in need of urgent examination and assessment for hospitalization are seen.
