Department of Cardiology
The “Cardiology” department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of ischemic heart disease, chronic heart failure, rhythm and conduction disorders, inflammatory heart diseases, congenital and acquired heart defects, pulmonary thromboembolism, and all emergency and life-threatening conditions in cardiology. The department’s activities are carried out in the following structures:
- General cardiology and intensive care in cardiology,
- Non-invasive cardiology,
- Invasive cardiology,
- Cardiac pacing.
Inpatient
The department is located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Surgical Block and has 39 beds, of which 6 are intensive care beds with monitors and oxygen therapy capabilities. The “Non-invasive cardiology” sector is on the 2nd floor of the old building of the hospital.
Apparatus
The department is equipped with modern high-tech equipment. The Innova IGS 530 Omega angiography machine is located in a modern angiography room and is operated by specialists in invasive evaluation and treatment of heart vessel diseases. These specialists perform therapeutic invasive vascular procedures, including percutaneous angioplasty, stent implantation, vessel embolization, selective thrombolysis for pulmonary thromboembolism, and cava filter implantation (umbrella) when indicated.
The modern echocardiograph from “General Electric” is of the highest class. It is equipped with a three-dimensional transthoracic and transesophageal probe. It allows for precise evaluation of: the function of the heart’s chambers and atria at rest and during stress, myocardial mechanics and movement of the heart wall, valve function and morphology, morphology of the heart cavities, myocardial mass, myocardial function, contrast examination of the heart cavities and myocardium, morphology of the heart lining and vessels.
The department also has an echocardiographic system with tissue Doppler, color Doppler, transesophageal probe, and a probe for vascular diagnostics, a Holter ECG system, modern electrocardiographs, temporary pacemakers, defibrillators, and continuous monitoring monitors for patients. The “Non-invasive cardiology” sector is equipped with a cardio-diagnostic system, a cycle ergometer, electrocardiographs, an ultrasound system, a stress echocardiography system, a Holter ECG system, and a Holter blood pressure monitoring system.
