Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neli Petrova graduated from the Higher Medical Institute in Varna. Since 1988, she has been working at the Ruse hospital, and since 1992, she has been a neurologist in the specialized neurological department for brain strokes. In 1994, she obtained her specialization in neurology. She holds professional qualifications in clinical neuropsychology and electroencephalography. She has served as the head of the Second Neurology Department, the Functional Diagnosis Department of the Nervous System, and as the executive director of the hospital.
Assoc. Prof. Petrova is the head of the Department of General and Vascular Neurology at UMHAT “Kaneff”, which includes the Clinical Neuropsychology Center, and is a lecturer at Ruse University “Angel Kanchev”. She participated in the creation and signing of the “National Consensus on Early Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Forms of Dementia.” She is a member of the expert council at the Ministry of Health for developing the “Strategic Guidelines for Diagnosis, Prevention, Treatment, and Care for People with Dementia in Bulgaria”, a member of the European Academy of Neurology, and of the International Society of the Alzheimer’s Association for Advancements in Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment (ISTAART).
